Cacey Schmidt, FNP-CNP

 Caring for others has been at the heart of Cacey's life for more than half of it. Her healthcare journey began as a teenager working as a nurse's aide in her hometown nursing home, where she spent more than a decade building meaningful relationships with residents and their families. Those early experiences sparked a passion for care that continues to shape who she is today.

Cacey earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University before pursuing her lifelong goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. Inspired by watching her sister earn her Nurse Practitioner degree, Cacey followed the same path and graduated from Mount Marty University with her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2021.

After becoming a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Cacey spent three years providing hospice and palliative care. Visiting patients in their homes, she focused on promoting comfort, dignity, and the highest possible quality of life during some of life's most challenging moments. That experience reinforced the importance of treating the whole person—not just their diagnosis—and continues to influence the whole person, patient-centered approach she brings to primary care today.

At Modern Day Health Care, Cacey loves what she can do and the freedom of being able to partner with patients of all ages to help them achieve their health goals through prevention, education, and personalized care. She believes that listening, building trust, and creating lasting relationships are the foundation of exceptional healthcare.

Outside of the clinic, Cacey lives in Tea, South Dakota, with her husband, her high school sweetheart of 13 years, and their two daughters, ages 6 and 8. Her family is her greatest joy and her biggest inspiration.
